"Stars"
Away out there, my horse and me,
We rest beside the fire,
And looking up, the stars we see,
And with them God’s desire.
The stars will never go away,
They fade, but no, they’re back,
Twinkling at the end of day,
Against a canopy of black.
They say the light I’m looking at,
Took years to get to me,
And I can’t understand all that,
When I look up to see,
Something that is so immense,
My words cannot contain,
The meaning there is so intense,
He calls each one by name.
How many is a mystery,
Two hundred billion trillion,
And endless years of history,
Thirteen and one half billion.
For just what is our Milky Way,
And to think it all is His,
He made them on the first fourth day,
Along with all that is.
They speak a lot of stars that rise,
And shooting stars that fall,
Of wishes made into the skies,
And yearning prayers that call,
To the keeper of the stars,
Who keeps us with Him, too,
He’s very near, so close, not far,
His love is real, it’s true.
If He can make the stars above,
And keep each one on track,
He can fill us with His love,
And deliver from attack.
“He counts all the stars and calls them all by name…” (Psalm 147:4, NLT)
The immensity of the universe is an easy observation. Some believe that it all came into existence randomly, but the more closely the created order is studied, the more intricate the design on every level. This is true from the microscopic to the telescopic. And the design clearly implies a Designer. This is where faith comes in, based upon a choice of the heart. I may choose to believe that there is no Creator, or that there is one who walked away. But there is no proof for this position, any more than one can prove the existence of God. We make a choice, based upon what we see and feel in our hearts. I see the stars, and I believe.
Lord, help us to see You, through what You have created, in Jesus’ name.
