Sunshine

When the sun is shining brightly,

And your old pony’s mane,

Is full of breeze and blowing,

And your heart is light again.

And you think the Lord is blessing,

And you know for sure it’s true,

And the clouds are white and fluffy,

And the sky a brilliant blue.

A song rises in your bosom,

And a tear flies from your eye,

And you find a place to rest awhile,

And with happiness you sigh.

It’s good to really savor,

And remember those good times,

Especially when you’re having,

Those hard and steady climbs.

The God of all our mountaintops,

Still with us when we’re low,

And His love cannot be stopped,

No matter where we go.

So enjoy all that good sunshine,

And celebrate the day,

But remember when the times are bad,

God’s grace, it has a way,

Of coming when we need it,

And always there on time,

And even in the valley,

We’re going to be fine.

“Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning…” (Psalm 30:5, NLT)

I love the good times, don’t you? That’s why we take an alarming number of photos and videos with our phones, and then post on social media so that the world can see what’s happened! We want them to see and feel the joy our children and grandchildren give us. We want them to see the delicious meal we’ve eaten or the beautiful place we just visited. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. And it’s even more wonderful when people realize God is the giver of every good and perfect gift. He blesses us with happiness and happy times, and should be praised for it. Yes, times can get hard and mean and bad. We just had the worst winter weather I ever say, but guess what? Today the high was seventy with sunshine all day. Weeping may last through the night, but when the sun comes up, fresh mercy arrives with it. New opportunities! New blessings! A new day. Take it and celebrate it. Then give praise.

Lord, help us celebrate Your joy, in Jesus’ name.
