"Tell Me"
Tell me once more about Jesus,
Of the healings and wonders He did,
Tell me how He walked on water,
And all of those demons got rid.
Tell me once more of His teaching,
How He said to love God and men,
To forgive just as we’re forgiven,
To find a new life, turn from sin.
Tell me how He bled and suffered,
How He laid down His life on the cross,
How He paid the price for salvation,
To seek and to save all the lost.
Tell me about that first Easter,
How they found the big stone rolled away,
The angels who said He is risen,
How He conquered death on that day.
Tell me how He had that breakfast,
By the seashore with men of His tribe,
How He told them their cause was not over,
And the mission that He would describe.
Tell how He flew up to heaven,
After saying His power would fall,
On those who would gather and seek Him,
To tell the world Christ died for all.
Tell me again how He’s coming,
To judge the whole world that’s gone wrong,
And take all His children to heaven,
Where we always knew we belong.
Tell me once more about Jesus,
I love Him because He saved me,
I never get tired of His story,
The truth sets the captives all free.
“…And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14, NIV)
If you know Jesus it’s because someone told you about Him. You might have been attracted to the Good News by someone’s example and good works. But ultimately someone had to say something. Maybe it was a friend, your pastor, your grandmother or whomever. Maybe you saw someone talking about Jesus online or on television. Why is a verbal witness important? It’s because there is no greater God-ordained avenue for spreading God’s Good News. Those who say all we need to do is live the life but not talk about it are simply wrong. God’s Word says the redeemed should verbalize the story of Jesus and what He has done for us.
Lord, empower us to tell Your story, in Jesus’ name.
