"I Don't Know"

I don’t know why life’s tragedies,

Happen to us all,

Or why good people suffer,

While the evil have a ball.

I don’t know why the bad guys,

Seem to often win,

Take advantage of the weakest,

And with their lies pretend,

To care about the people,

When they don’t really care,

But go right on deceiving,

And setting satan’s snare.

Don’t know why God is patient,

When what this old world needs,

Is a hero who will make things right,

And harvest righteous seeds.

So many things I do not know,

So many questions too,

But I’ll tell you this, my friend,

That I believe is true.

Jesus Christ is still the Lord,

Of everything and all,

And He will save the worst of us,

If on Him we call.

And He will one day judge this world,

When He comes again,

And we are glad to give Him praise,

Every day till then.

“For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising Him from the dead.” (Acts 17:31, NIV)

When Paul preached the Good News of Jesus Christ in Athens on Mars Hill he was not afraid to let the philosophers know that God would judge the world through Jesus. Jesus died and was raised to provide salvation for the world but also to indite the darkness of the world and call it to account. Jesus alone is qualified to do this. He is the answer to every question worth asking, and every issue that needs to be resolved. Jesus is Lord.

Lord, help us remember that You will be the Judge of all, in Jesus’ name.
