"The Ride"
Cow town nearly sucked me down,
Back in urban cowboy days,
Thought in tequila I would drown,
Glad I survived that phase.
The two-step and the rodeo,
That’s where I tried to hide,
Close calls came and went you know,
With every crazy ride.
The Lord, He spared my life you see,
And I’m no longer young,
But I’ll always a cowboy be,
Until my days are done.
Ridin’ now out in the light,
I find God’s peaceful plan,
Guess I was precious in His sight,
He held me by His hand.
And I say to those who care,
If you cowboy, cowboy up,
The Lord is near, He’s always there,
He’ll swap that bitter cup.
And let you take a whole new sip,
From the living river’s stream,
Better still, to take a dip,
Get shut of satan’s scheme.
A ridin’ hard for heaven’s shore,
And Jesus is the way,
Died and rose He is the door,
Today could be the day.
“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven and whose sins have been covered.” (Romans 4:7, NAS)
It’s all about being forgiven, knowing you’re forgiven and spreading the good news of forgiveness. I did wrong back when, but all that has been totally forgiven. That’s the promise of God’s word. I asked for forgiveness and for help to change. I had to learn to forgive others, too, and myself. But if we move too far from forgiveness we’re getting off track. it’s what redemption is all about. Forgiveness of sins is offered in Jesus’ name. Pass it on.
Lord, help us celebrate Your forgiveness, in Jesus’ name.
