"Tired"

Some folks are already tired,

And you know that it’s true,

You see ‘em wishing they’d retired,

But have too much to do.

Frantic and frenetic,

The pace they set today,

Panicked and pathetic,

It’s really not okay.

Maybe we should slow it down,

At least it’s worth a thought,

Grab contentment, fight the frown,

And not ‘bout what we’ve bought.

But little blessings that will come,

If we care to see,

The daily grace, the things He’s done,

For you, and yes, for me.

The prophet said if we will wait,

And put our trust in Him,

Our strength renewed, it will be great,

He’ll lift us up and then,

We’ll run and not be weary,

Walk and never faint,

Dry eyes when we’re teary,

And never have a can’t,

‘Cause with His strength we’re able,

To do just what we should,

And He sets quite a table,

Past what we thought He would.

So if you are plumb tired,

Look up from where you are,

By His own Spirit’s fire,

Feel better off by far.

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength…” (Isaiah 40:31, NLT)

Everybody gets tired but some people remain exhausted even after they rest. Why? It’s because what’s on the inside of them makes the outside tired. They are drained, stressed out and oftentimes hopeless. The great prophet Isaiah gave sage advice to those who were weak and powerless. He said that if we wait on the Lord and trust in the Lord, He will renew us. His strength is so powerful it will be like soaring like an eagle and running without becoming weary. That’s the kind of strength we need. It renews us from the inside out.

Lord, help us wait on You and trust in You so that we may receive the strength we need, in Jesus’ name.
