"Treasure"

There’s all kind of reasons,

We are who we are,

And if we accept it,

We’ve really come far.

‘Cause most of us spend time,

Just trying to please,

Something or somebody,

And never find ease,

With how God has made us,

And what is His call,

Instead of pretending,

For one or for all.

One of these moments,

And one of these years,

We just need to break loose,

And face all our fears.

‘Bout how we are living,

And who we’ve become,

And where are we going,

And where we’ve come from.

So God says surrender,

All that we are,

And all that we have,

Every wrinkle and scar.

And He will then show us,

Our identity,

Don’t let it be stolen,

Your God-given “me.”

And when you can say it,

I’m really okay,

The Lord God has saved me,

Though a jar of clay,

I have a great treasure,

I share a great light,

Living inside me,

And I’ll be all right.

“…but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure…”

Some folks never get comfortable with themselves. And by that I don’t mean lazy or becoming passive. I mean they never realize their full potential as human beings because they have spent all or most of their lives trying to please someone or live up to something that they can’t attain. They miss out on the truth that God loves them where they are and will take them where they need to be if they will cooperate with Him. ‘Course that means breaking free from their initial fear and just surrendering everything over to God. It’s simple, but profound. But it’s the only way we get to enjoy our role as the clay catalyst for the treasure of God’s presence and the light of His power. Life is about that treasure, and how we treasure our lives and others because of it,

Lord, help us find our true identity as catalysts of Your presence and power, in Jesus’ name.
