"Treed"

Have you ever felt that you were treed,

And had no place to go,

That no one understood your need,

Because they did not know.

The things you felt and thought about,

The heartbreak and the pain,

The things that put you on a rout,

Made you doubt you’re sane.

Remember there was some one,

This happened long ago,

Plumb near the end of his run,

And up a tree, although,

He climbed there so that he could see,

The teacher on the way,

Had no idea what then would be,

The events of that day.

That with no expectation,

The Lord said come on down,

And my new destination,

Is that I’ll hang around,

With you and yours at your place,

And that’s right where I’ll be,

Let’s hope that you can make space,

For some needed change, you see.

Nobody knows the details,

Of the visit that they had,

But bottom like the retails,

Netted giving what he had.

So this is what the Master said,

That God’s salvation came,

To one who was as good as dead,

New life, in Jesus’ name.

So if you’re treed remember one,

Was up there just like you,

Let Jesus Christ, God’s only Son,

Bring you salvation, too.

“Salvation has come to this home today…” (Luke 19:9, NLT)

Zaccheus needed help and obviously realized it on some level. Why else would he run ahead of the crowd and climb up in the sycamore tree for a better look? But that’s what he did, and fortunately for him, Jesus specialized in zeroing in on those who needed help the most. People didn’t like it. They grumbled because Jesus had chosen to go home with a notorious sinner. But the visit changed Zaccheus’ life, evidenced by his vow to pay back those he had cheated and giving half his wealth to the poor. Jesus’ evaluation of the change summed it up by saying salvation had come to him. I guess if Jesus says you’re saved, it’s a pretty safe bet you are! All this to say being treed is a great place to be if it leads you to the right answer. Think about it.

Lord, bring us your salvation, and help us generously share it with others, in Jesus’ name.
