"Truth"

Truth has gotten hard to find,

It’s not that it got lost,

But people with a troubled mind,

Have all their reason tossed.

They cannot see what’s right from wrong,

Or whether girl or boy,

They try to judge when life’s too long,

The preborn they destroy.

They argue over Dr. Seuss,

And seem to find offense,

Call every little thing abuse,

It doesn’t make good sense.

So what is true, my brother,

That age-old question ask,

And is there any other,

Thing that always lasts.

I say it’s in the Good Book,

And there the truth we find,

Time to take a new look,

Ask healng for the blind.

For it tells of Jesus,

Who said He was the truth,

And though it might not please us,

When we play the sleuth.

It’s written in red letters,

Confronts us, don’t you see,

And we just might do better,

If we consider and agree.

With what He claimed so clearly,

The way, the truth, the life,

If we hold to it dearly,

Delivers us from strife.

And if the truth can free us,

The Son can make us free,

He came to earth to be us,

And save eternally.

Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” (John 14:6)

Jesus not only pointed men to the truth. He made an astounding claim: He said that He was the truth. That’s huge, when you think about it. He claimed to be the incarnation of truth. If you saw Jesus, you were looking at truth with skin on. This leads us to three options. If He was wrong about this and He knew it, one could conclude that He was a liar. If He was wrong about this, but sincerely believed He was right, one could accurately assume that He was mentally unbalanced. There is only one other option. That is if Jesus claimed to be the way, the truth and the life, and He really was. In which case everything else He claimed to be must be seriously considered. There is no room to consider Him as merely a great man, teacher, moral example, or prophet. Either He is who He claimed to be or He isn’t. And what we decide will determine all our priorities going forward.

Lord, help me to give You rightful recognition and praise for what You have done, in Jesus’ name.
