"Unsafe"
Some folks barely know you,
Some do but don’t show you,
And some reactions throw you,
They can be mean and cruel.
It’s good to learn some distance,
From those whose whole existence,
Lives to show resistance,
And fight the Lord God’s rule.
God says love ‘em anyway,
And for enemies He said pray,
But careful those with whom you stay,
Might not be safe for you.
Some live for toxicity,
The devil’s own complicity,
And only narcissisity,
Won’t listen to what’s true.
So let it be and let it go,
You only live one life you know,
These people quench the Spirit’s flow,
And do real damage, too.
So only from a distance then,
Can you even be a friend,
God knows how and where and when,
With love we speak what’s true
“‘Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘And do not touch what is unclean, and I will welcome you.’” (2 Corinthians 6:17, NAS)
This may be one of the hardest lessons to learn. There are some people that are so spiritually unsafe .that our best strategy is to separate ourselves from them. We continue to love them, pray for them and care for them. But to continue associating with them will do them no good and can delay their repentance. Every situation is unique, but wisdom tells us we can’t help everybody and sometimes we just have to move on. God will show us how and when.
Lord, show us when it’s time to sever the unsafe relationship, in Jesus’ name.
