"Wait"
Lord knows you ain’t no quitter,
But lately crossed your mind,
‘Bout throwin’ in the towel,
You feel so far behind.
And you know that you shouldn’t,
But you’re tired, discouraged, too,
So here’s a little something,
I’ll share right now with you.
You don’t have to go as fast,
As others think you should,
Rein it in, reset your pace,
It helps everyone who would.
Don’t go as the Lone Ranger,
Even he had Tonto’s aid,
Team up with only one or two,
And soon you’ll have it made.
Finally, and not the least,
Sit down alone and pray,
Lay it all in Jesus’ hands,
And get it done today.
I know you know these answers,
But remember what you know,
Reset you pace, find your team,
And pray before you go.
“Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” (Isaiah 40:31, NAS)
Burn-out is real. When people get tired and discouraged they become vulnerable to the enemy’s deception. Many times that’s when they stumble, rather than turning to the Lord and spiritual partners for help. Everyone gets tired, but we do not have to live with perpetual exhaustion. The Lord has promised to energize us. Wait in the presence of the Lord and find the gift of renewal. It’s there.
Lord, relieve our weariness and give us strength, in Jesus’ name.
