"Water"

Nothing beats it when you’re dry,

To hydrate all your work and try,

Refreshing all, must have or die,

I’m speaking about water.

Those lost at sea cannot drink,

The salty kind and don’t you think,

It must be hard when on the brink,

But cannot drink the water.

And in the desert dry and hot,

Many fell before they got,

Where they went ‘cause they could not,

Make it without water.

Those washed away by horrid storms,

And with them all the constant norms,

The work of charity performs,

And brings them needed water.

And when you drink you’ll thirst again,

But Jesus spoke of something when,

You find a new life with Him then,

When you drink His living water.

“Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14, NAS)

The water Jesus offered did two things. It satisfied one’s spiritual thirst permanently. And it flows out of one’s heart eternally. That’s a very big promise, don’t you think? It fills the void and overflows to fill others. It gives eternal peace and flows with eternal purpose. It’s the ultimate answer for every human need and we get to be part of the solution. It’s the ultimate commodity to consume and the most powerful, life-changing thing one can give away. The woman who received it could not stop talking about it or the One who gave it to her.

Lord, give us living water, in Jesus’ name.
