"What You're Doin'"

What you’re doin’ matters,

But some don’t think it’s true,

Everyone must play their part,

And what you daily do,

Are seeds sown into people’s lives,

Your words, how you behave,

You will make an impact,

Perhaps their soul to save.

Maybe you’re a-horseback,

Takin’ care of some old cow,

Perhaps you have a job in town,

But either way somehow,

We’ve got to spread the light of Christ,

And let folks feel His love,

Represent the Savior,

And His Kingdom from above.

We don’t have to look alike,

Or work at the same things,

But if we spread the love each day,

The praise to His name brings.

And we can’t earn salvation,

But can show we have received,

Not by putting others down,

But love proves we’ve believed.

People who don’t love the Lord,

Won’t act like they do,

For us to think so otherwise,

Shows we are naïve, too.

The darkness will the light oppose,

But we serve one and all,

Even love our enemies,

And pray on Him they call.

And if they call He promises,

To hear them and to save,

Accepting Christ the Lamb of God,

The One the Father gave.

So keep on what you’re doin’,

And ask the Lord to use,

Every single word and deed,

And light the Spirit’s fuse.

“And all this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:18, NLT)

All those gifted with salvation are given a task. What is it? It is to be used by God as an instrument to bring others. And we are God’s number one method. Certainly He uses the created order. The heavens declare His glory. But nothing in all creation is as powerful as the testimony of a saved sinner. And that’s exactly what we are. Unfortunately there are those who have received grace but feel it is their job to point out what is wrong with everyone and everything. This is always troubling, because the good news of Jesus is diluted by the negativity they share. The most exciting, life-changing, powerful news on earth is that heaven has come searching for us! We are ambassadors of the God who seeks and saves the lost. May we represent Him well.

Lord, use us to bring others to You, in Jesus’ name.
