"Every Cowboy"
Every cowboy that I know,
Would welcome every chance,
To get horseback and show his skills,
Spin that old cattle dance.
To ride in amongst the livestock,
To do what must be done,
To rope or sort or doctor,
And bring back them that run.
Every cowboy that I know,
Has a certain flair or style,
Hat and boots and all his tack,
You notice after awhile,
That not all are just the same,
Each has a certain way,
And if you listen close enough,
You will hear ‘em say,
Why it is they are unique,
Mostly how they’re taught,
By top hands who took the time,
Not by book or training bought.
Some cowboys that I know,
Are arrogant and proud,
Cocky about what they know,
Don’t ask ‘em they’re too loud.
But most cowboys that I know,
Don’t come across like that,
They have a humble spirit,
Beneath that cowboy hat.
And every cowboy that I know,
Has sinned and needs salvation,
That’s the reason Jesus died,
For eternal celebration.
So every cowboy that I know,
Should bow their heads and pray,
Ask the Lord to save them,
And do it now, today.
Then every cowboy that I know,
Should speakr right up, you see,
God will use the cowboy,
To set the captive free.
“…And how can they hear about Hi unless someone tells them…” (Romans 10:14, NLT)
Paul meant it as a rhetorical question, but no less profound in the asking. He’s already boldly affirmed that all those who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. But then comes the sequence of questions that places us in the position of both opportunity and responsibility.a How can they believe unless they hear, and how can they hear unless someone tells them? It matters. When you stop to think about it, we are saved because someone told us. Perhaps it was a friend or a parent, or a pastor or a coach Seeing a Christian example is one thing, but actually hearing the Good News of Jesus is what precipitates our salvation. Never doubt it, and get on about the business of sharing it.
Lord, help us faithfully share Your good news, in Jesus’ name.
