"When"
When the grains of sand grow smaller,
In the hour glass of time,
And you know that what’s been left to you,
Is way past all your prime.
There comes a kind of wistfulness.
About what more you’ll do,
And if you’ll make the best of it,
Or let more slide from you.
And you think on all the memories,
Sunrise and sunset, too,
Days horseback in the country,
What you’ve done and plan to do.
You think about the people,
Friends whom you’ve met and then,
Wonder if you’ll ever,
See those folks again.
And then there is your family,
Whom you love with all your heart,
And pray that you can be with them,
Though you’ve been far apart.
And in the end you give it up,
To Jesus Christ our Lord,
‘Cause You know He is willing,
To grace you by His Word.
And He’ll help us redeem the time,
And with His Spirit fill,
To never doubt that He is there,
And show to us His will.
“Make the most of every opportunity…” (Ephesians 5:16, NLT)
Opportunities happen all the time. When we are led and filled with the Spirit, we are enabled to both see and maximize the doors that God opens to us. How can you count on this happening? Remember that God is not playing games with us. When we humbly seek Him to quench our spiritual thirst and satisfy our spiritual hunger, He will make plain to us the opportunity before us. He will make it so clear we cannot miss it. It will be too obvious! And that’s the beauty and great adventure of living in the Spirit. Redeem the time! We can, so we should.
Lord, fill us with Your Spirit and help us redeem the time, in Jesus’ name.
