"Dawn"
There is a fleeting moment,
Just before the dawn,
A tiny line of pink so fine,
When not one thing is wrong.
The glimmer of the morning,
The horses move and neigh,
And knowing and soon showing,
That God gives a new day.
And when, not if, it happens,
The question then becomes,
Will our regret, strong burdens yet,
We’ll learn to overcome.
The yesterdays can’t be redone,
And with each day the gift,
To cowboy up and fill our cup,
With praise, our spirits lift.
New range to ride and gather,
New friends to meet and know,
New horses ride, and never hide,
From anything, although,
We get the grace to live it,
And learn life as we ride,
Enjoy the day and come what may,
With God we will abide.
So never take for granted,
The moment of the dawn,
A tiny line of pink so fine,
When not one thing is wrong.
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus…” (Romans 8:1, NLT)
No condemnation! How wonderful! Yet many of us carry heavy regret for our past mistakes. By God’s grace we must lay these burdens down and forgive ourselves. Otherwise we continue to punish ourselves for what we’ve done or left undone. This is not God’s will. Learn from the past. Receive God’s grace to deal with bad seeds that produced a bad harvest. But stop grieving yesterday. Why? Because there is the gift of a new day, and with it the grace to maximize every opportunity. It starts at midnight, but the dawn ushers in God’s mercy. Don’t miss it!
Lord, help us to live without regret, in Jesus’ name.
