"Win"

Against all odds sometimes they win,

And no one knows just why,

The perfect loop, the high-point ride,

The limit is the sky.

The horse that no one thought to pick,

Comes from far behind,

Finds his stride and in the end,

The roses he will find.

They pull the trigger on the deal,

They work and sweat and try,

And finally there comes a break,

And their critics they defy.

And when they win it’s fun to watch,

The joy of victory,

The celebration and the bliss,

It touches you and me.

 Be careful when you’re winning,

To give praise to the One,

Who grants the opportunity,

Ans strength to make your run.

The air we breathe, our hearts that beat,

It’s all a gift from Him,

And though we work and do our part,

Don’t let our vision dim,

About what’s what and humbly thank,

The Lord who gives us grace,

To Him the glory all belongs,

When we strongly win the race.

So cowboy up and cowboy on,

And chase the dream you see,

And let the Good Lord lead the way,

And keep your heart pride-free.

“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:6-7, NIV)

The devil feeds egotism. God promise to resist the proud. This is true all the time with everyone who is arrogant. God promises grace to the humble. C.S. Lewis said that humility was not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less. True humility is seeing yourself the way God sees you and accepting it. Humility is the trigger for God’s grace. When we are humble we will have the grace to resist the devil and make him flee. When we lose God graces us to learn. When we win God graces us to help others win.

Lord, grant us the grace You give to the humble, in Jesus’ name.
