"Wind"

The wind is fierce and it will pierce,

Through layers that we wear,

Can get so cold, and often told,

Just move away from there.

But then the sun, will make it run,

And calm it to a breeze,

The weather’s change, will rearrange,

Our garments, if you please.

But inside where, we really care,

Nothing steals our peace,

If cold or hot, or what we’ve got,

The weather can’t decrease,

Our will to live and always give,

Our best to work this way,

With faith in God, the trail we trod,

What all the cowfolk say,

Is in the saddle tend the cattle,

And never, ever stop,

‘Cause in the end, the time we spend,

Will bring us a good crop.

I don’t pretend all worries send,

Away each time they come,

But put our trust in God we must,

And then go get you some.

In rolling heat or freezin’ beat,

We keep on keeping on,

Cowboy strong, we get along,

And with each early dawn,

We rise to say, a cowboy day,

Is better than in town,

And though the wind begins again,

It won’t get us down.

A horseback man who rides his plan,

So happy and so free,

At weather laughs as each day crafts,

The future that will be.

And God above who sent His love,

Is faithful to the end,

And in spite, of weather’s fight,

He always is our friend.

“He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves…” (Psalm 107:29, NTL)

The Lord knows what to do when we find ourselves in a storm. Some are external and very real, even life-threatening. But the worst storms are on the inside of us where no one can see. The good news is the Lord is at His best when He calms these storms down. And He’s the only One who can. Maybe your storm has lasted most of your life. Perhaps the storm inside you has ruined everything of value, and you are about ready to give up. Don’t do it! Even when it seems impossible, God is bigger and stronger than anything that threatens you. He can replace chaos with peace, hurt with healing, and misery with joy. Best of all, He can use everything that has happened for His glory and your good. Count on it. He’s the storm-whisperer.

Lord, please calm our storms, in Jesus’ name.
