"Wise"
Sat today with wise men,
Heard what they had to say,
I was honored to sit with them,
In fact, it made my day.
They spoke much of the Spirit,
Of revivals long ago,
Those who were a part of it,
Important truths to know.
They talked of people’s hunger,
The need to hear God’s voice,
Their hope and expectancy,
And the fact we have a choice.
To let God move among us,
And speak to us His peace,
To bring the signs and wonders,
To the captives grant release.
And I said I was willing,
But sometimes hope runs thin,
That it can really happen,
God’s out-pouring once again.
I came away encouraged,
And thankful to be there,
To hear from men who love the Lord,
And from their heart to share.
I pray all that they talked about,
Will happen very soon,
And I believe it really will,
If in our hearts there’s room.
To ask the Lord to pour it out,
And come and be Himself,
The same as ever once He was,
And take us off the shelf.
Let Your river flow again,
Let the Spirit’s wind fresh blow,
Let the healing fire fall,
With Your glory all aglow.
And we will tell the story,
To all with ears to hear,
How the Good Lord had His way,
When we asked Him to draw near.
“Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:7-8)
Authentic leaders teach us what the Lord has said and continues to say. Their faith, tested over time, becomes an encouraging example for us to follow. Ultimately, they point us to Jesus who is the same yesterday, today and forever. Because of their wisdom, we get a new and clearer picture of who Jesus is and who He has called us to be. Never doubt the value of their influence. And never doubt that we can count on Jesus to always be the same and there for us.
Lord, help us listen well to the leaders You have sent to us, in Jesus’ name.
