"Wit's End"

When you’re at the end, and you begin,

To doubt why you exist,

Hopes and dreams, all gone it seems,

You wonder how you missed,

The warning signs, and uphill climbs,

Didn’t slow you down a bit,

But hard to bear, when you get there,

It’s a challenge to admit.

That cards got dealt, and feelings felt,

And your pain led the way,

To take you to, this hell, it’s true,

And now you have to pay.

Wit’s end now, but still somehow,

Your heart inside you beats,

And while it does, look up because,

The Spirit’s voice repeats,

That God above with His great love,

Will meet you in this place,

You are not dead, God’s word has said,

To seek His smiling face.

Come on back and get on track,

And leave all that behind,

It’s not too late, so come, don’t wait,

Just seek and you will find.

The last, He said, go first instead,

Of those who think they know,

But too far gone, forgives their wrong,

His healing grace to show.

God’s specialty, is this, you see,

It’s why the Good Lord came,

To seek and save, His life He gave,

Just call on Jesus’ name.

“For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.” (Matthew 9:13, NLT)

Jesus hated sin and died to forgive and free us from it. He Himself was tempted exactly like us, yet without sin. But here’s what is so powerful. Though He came to die for our sins, His holy hatred for sin never spilled over to sinners. He loved sinners! He ate and drank and fellowshipped with notorious sinners, and so much so that the religious leaders asked why He ate with such scum. He loves us in spite of our sin. He does not condone or excuse sin in any way. But He loves us and died for us while we were dead in sin. This is good news indeed! No matter how far we’ve fallen, or how far away from God we have wandered, Jesus seeks and saves those who know they need Him. Call on His name.

Lord, help us to embrace Your love and salvation, in Jesus’ name.
