"Wonder"

I have felt some wonder,

A-horseback with the sun,

Breathing air so fresh and new,

Like Adam’s first day fun.

I have praised the Savior,

And I have felt His hand,

As I rode through the cattle,

Seeking calves to brand.

I’ve been washed by rainfall,

And I have weathered storm,

Lightning and loud thunder,

And watched the dark clouds form.

But when the weather brightened,

And the stormy blew on through,

I found that what was left behind,

Was fresh and green and grew.

I’ve been engulfed with pleasure,

I’ve had my heart so broke,

And I have the treasure,

Of Jesus’ easy yoke.

So, yes, I’ve learned to cowboy,

And thankful I can be,

But not to glorify it,

Just saying that is me.

And not me that is stubborn,

But surrendered all in all,

Saddle, horse and future,

All to the Master’s call.

“The Lord is my strength and my song; He has given me victory.” (Psalm 118:14, NLT)
