"All Die"
All men die, though all men try,
To live long as they can,
They work and strive to stay alive,
The fire of life to fan.
But time goes on, they go along,
With all that fills their days,
Take care to be, healthy you see,
And pace themselves always.
But God has said, His Book I read,
It’s appointed once to die,
It’s all laid out, there is no doubt,
And God above can’t lie.
It’s still a shock, when death will knock,
On your journey’s door,
You cannot say, no, not today,
I plan to live years more.
The fount of youth, to tell the truth,
Will finally run dry,
The best get old, their story told,
And then they say good-bye.
There’s only One, when said and done,
We look to for some peace,
He died and rose for all of those,
Who from death need release.
He heals death’s sting and everything,
We fear He takes away,
We can trust, we only must,
Turn to Him and pray.
Lord, we believe and we receive,
All that You died to give,
You are the Way, we heard You say,
You’ll die, yet you will live.
“Anyone who believes in Me will live, even after dying…” (John 11:25, NLT)
Jesus spoke these words to Martha, who had just lost her brother, Lazarus. They sent for Jesus when Lazarus got sick, but Jesus was too late to heal him. He had been dead for four days by the time Jesus arrived. But Jesus was never late! He knew that on this occasion He would raise the dead, and that’s exactly what He did! He also used the event to say something about death for all of us. He made the astounding claim that if we believe in Him, we would live, even after dying. This means that because of Jesus’ own death and resurrection, we have no fear of death. The sting of death has been removed, once and for all, and is replaced by the promise of Jesus. Claim that promise for yourself.
Lord, we as that You help us understand that our faith prepares us to go through the doorway of death into life eternal, in Jesus’ name.
