"Bloom"

The years took my bloom, but there is no room,

To complain ‘cause I have been blessed,

And though the years roll and all take their toll,

I’m stronger than most of the rest.

The weather’s turned cool and that means the rule,

Is saddle your horse and go ride,

What I plan to do, and I’m telling you,

I’m glad the heat’s gone I’ll confide.

We should savor the things that the season change brings,

And don’t put it off ‘nary bit,

‘Cause if you do, I’m telling you,

You’ll be done long before you say quit.

Live out it all, then relive it, recall,

The moments so filled with His grace,

God grants your desires, forget the retires,

His strength keeps us running the race.

Seize life by the horns, wear chaps for the thorns,

Shake out and twirl a big loop,

Something big you might catch, and from old age snatch,

A plate full of steak ‘stead of soup.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10, NIV)

The enemy’s work is always to steal, kill and destroy everything of value to you. Jesus came to give us super-abundant, full life. This life begins when we give our lives to Jesus and continues into our heavenly home. Life is meant to be a lot of heaven on the way to heaven, in spite of the hell we have to overcome. Some allow life to end before God says it’s over. They become negative missionaries of misery who complain, whine and argue their way through life. They cooperate with the enemy’s plan instead of allowing the Spirit of God to give them a fruitful, productive life. Even if you have physically got more years behind you than are in front of you, it’s not how many days you live that count the most, but how much life you can get into your days. Let it be.

Lord, fill our days with adventure and purpose, in Jesus’ name.
