"Bubba"
Do you know a “Bubba”?
I knew one long ago,
A good old boy with lots of joy,
And we were friends, you know.
But life took us in separate ways,
I lost track of my friend,
I hope he’s well, but you can’t tell,
I haven’t heard from him.
Then at a cowboy rendezvous,
A man walked up to me,
I shook his hand, it was God’s plan,
And we’re good friends, you see.
A horseman and a rancher,
A cowboy who can shoot,
A teacher and a preacher,
Knows how to throw a loop.
A talker, storyteller,
And he’s got lots to say,
So you know Bub, well, here’s the rub,
You know that he’s okay.
He once lost a grandson,
He felt his old heart break,
Gets the blues, but then he’ll choose,
Let there be no mistake,
He prays and seeks the Savior,
To do the best he can,
To spread God’s love from up above,
From Texas cross the land.
I hope you know a Bubba,
I’m thankful for my friend,
Partners strong, to God belong,
Plumb till the very end.
“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed…” (Ecclesiastes 4:9, NLT)
God isn’t calling Lone Rangers! He’s calling people to partner together in the Gospel. We become vulnerable when we are isolated, but stronger when we team up with support and accountability. When God gives grace to any relationship, there is a giving and receiving that benefits both sides. But when the grace remains, it usually means that there is a divine assignment. i have God-given friends that bless me. But I also have God-given friends that are called to do ministry with me, starting with my spouse. Two are better than one for many reasons. Believe it.
Lord, connect us to one another for Your purposes, in Jesus’ name.
