"Call the Cowboys"
When the water gap was flooded,
And the cattle there escaped,
They made a call to cowboys,
And the day was soon reshaped.
‘Cause what could have been disaster,
Turned out not to be,
They gathered and they roped ‘em,
No worse for wear, you see.
No one hit a bovine,
On the highway like one could,
And all because the cowboys,
Showed up just like they should.
The broken fence was mended,
And all made safe again,
The threat of danger ended,
Just like it was back when.
Maybe you, like me, have thought,
We have lots of fences down,
Flooded out by sinfulness,
And seems no one around,
To gather those who’ve gone astray,
And bring ‘em safely back,
Avert a bad disaster,
And get things back on track.
Maybe call the cowboys,
The men who still are men,
Ready to ride in and help,
And make things right again.
Our boys would see example,
Our girls would then be safe,
Families would get stronger,
And the devil’s bunch would chafe.
But I think the country’s ready,
For some help with all our mess,
It’s time to call the cowboys,
And let God do the rest.
“Be on your guard; stand firm in your faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:13, NIV)
God is calling all of us, but especially for His men to stand up. This is not about anger or reverting to anything that resembles arrogance. This is about God’s people and especially His me becoming so fiercely humble that grace is released to make the enemy flee. It’s when all of us, but especially men, become the spiritual leaders, defenders, watchmen, and protectors God intended us to be. This will take Spirit-infused courage coupled with supernatural compassion. Thank God it’s happening and needs to happen more.
Lord, make us courageous, in Jesus’ name.
