"Mama"
Mama is the one who cares,
And wipes away our tears,
Generous and always shares,
And does it through the years.
The one we can depend on,
The one who fills our plate,
The one who will defend long,
With her love never late.
She who loves our laughter,
Her joy when we do well,
It’s our success she’s after,
Would drag us out of hell.
Of all the things in this life,
I’m thankful for, you see,
Second only to my own wife,
My Mom, she sure blessed me.
‘Cause she’s the one who showed me,
A life of faith and prayer,
And to church she towed me,
I’m glad she took me there.
Above all she loved Jesus,
She’s now with Him at rest,
And if from there she sees us,
Hope she knows our best,
Is done because we listened,
To what she said so true,
To live the life she christened,
And showed us what to do.
“Honor your father and mother…” (Ephesians 6:3, NLT)
One of the big ten, and Paul explains that it is the first commandment with a promise. And what is the promise? If we honor our parents, things will go well for us and we will have a long life. This is pretty much what every person wants, to have a long life and for things to go well. But are we willing to honor our parents? This is particularly challenging if our parents weren’t what they should have been to us. Mine weren’t perfect by any means, but the older I get the more I appreciate what they gave me. On this Mothers Day Sunday, honor your mother. You will be glad you did.
Lord, help us honor our mothers, in Jesus’ name.
