"Room"
The old song tells of room at the cross,
There’s room at the cross for you,
But if you don’t come, oh, what a loss,
The hymn speaks great words that are true.
We hate to acknowledge the hell that awaits,
Those who reject God’s great love,
We point to the grace that opens God’s gates,
And pray you find peace from above.
There’s room, there is room, still there is room,
And time has not run out just yet,
But the wages of sin will spell out one’s doom,
If salvation we do not get.
And the love we can know has no measure,
And offered us free of all charge,
His love for us is a great treasure,
For all humankind it’s so large.
As free as can be, we pray that you see,
The place that He offers just now,
Waiting to be, filled by you and me,
The Spirit He draws us somehow.
The Ancient of Days has offered His grace,
To all who will humbly believe,
And then when we come to the end of the race,
The promise of faith we receive.
Look! There is room in the heaven He made,
Our earthly gain counted as loss,
Praise God for the day that we bowed down and prayed,
His grace came and took us across.
“For this is how much God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NLT)
How much does God love us? It’s true measure can be found at the cross. When Jesus died for the sins of all humankind, it was the ultimate, transcendent, eternal expression of sacrificial love for all time and eternity. Thus, it cannot be fully measured. It is measureless because it is given unconditionally. Salvation, the personal experience of the grace that is offered, does have a requirement. It is a simple one and it is to simply believe. Believing is not an intellectual admission, however, that these event actually happened as scripture records. It’s deeper than that. This belief transfers trust in the Savior to do for you what you cannot do for yourself. The alternative is to face His judgment. Choose wisely.
Lord, help us fully believe in You and receive what You died to give us, in Jesus’ name.
