“She Made Me”

The woman who made me,

Was a southern beauty glam,

And there’s no doubt about it,

She made me who I am.

She told me that she gave me,

To the Lord the night conceived,

Don’t know how she knew it,

But no question she believed.

She told me of the Savior,

The first to tell me so,

How He died for us on Calvary,

And rose again you know.

She nurtured and encouraged,

She prayed down on the floor,

She loved without condition,

And wanted nothing more,

Than for me to live for Jesus,

And the Good News preach,

Lost her mind to that dementia,

And went far out of reach.

And now she’s gone to heaven,

Been about a year,

When we had to say good-bye,

But now I shed no tear.

For I have the things she gave me,

Her prayers and tender smile,

And one day I’ll be with her,

God knows in just awhile.

I have love from my children,

And their children, too,

I’m thankful to be married,

To a Texas beauty true.

But the first to ever love you,

Is one you can’t forget,

And for me it was my mother,

And I will honor yet.

She’s the one who made me,

In oh, so many ways,

And I am deeply thankful,

And will be all my days.

”Charm is deceptive and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.” (Proverbs 31:30, NLT)

I honor my mother for many reasons. She was a beautiful, creative, energetic and loving woman. Like all of us she had her flaws. But she was a saved woman whose lifelong passion was to lead others to Jesus. And she did. God only knows how many people she prayed with to receive the Lord. She wasn’t afraid to suggest that someone get down on their knees with her and pray to receive the Savior. Heaven is more real to me because she is there. I caught a glimpse of her in heaven, horseback with Jesus. She was young again, and her long, black hair blew in the wind as they laughed and rode together. I love you, Mom.
