“Favor”

There are a million reasons,

Through all our lifetime seasons,

Whatever suits our pleasin’s,

God does not force His way.

Though we believe He chose us,

And no doubt that He knows us,

He doesn’t hem and close us,

When we foolishly go stray.

Like that old sheep that wanders,

We end up in lost yonders,

Fills your mind with ponders,

Why we ever go that far.

‘Fore we come to our senses,

And count up the expenses,

Of all those broken fences,

God finds us where we are.

If I did not know better,

I’d swear since I’m His debtor,

At best He’d be forgetter,

And simply let us go.

But not this loving Savior,

He forgives all our behavior,

And graces us with favor,

It’s something we should know.

“Won’t He leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it?” (Luke 15:3, NLT)

God is better than we think.  He goes after the lost, proactively and preveniently gracing us while we are still lost and gone.  But not too far gone for Him.  Maybe others, but not this Shepherd.  I’ve written others off and even myself.  He paid that no attention and kept on coming.  It’s what can change everything if we let it.

Lord, thanks for Your search for us, in Jesus name.
