"My Pony's Ears"

Lookin’ through my pony’s ears,

By far my favorite view,

And every time no matter where,

There’s always something new,

To see or learn- appreciate,

About all God has made,

Thankful in the saddle,

Answers to the prayers we’ve prayed.

To live a cowboy lifestyle,

On a place that’s all our own,

To live close to the Brazos,

And call these pastures home.

With my own Texas beauty,

Whom God gave me to wed,

And to share life with her,

Parting only when I’m dead.

But between the now and then,

I’m thankful as can be,

For all that we are blessed with,

And all I get to see,

Lookin’ through my pony’s ears,

I see God’s will for me,

Learn to be a blessing,

And trust God’s guarantee,

That when this life is over,

And my saddle’s hung and stored,

I’ll ride the range of heaven,

Always, ever with the Lord.

“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above…” (James 1:17, NAV)

Some people don’t know it yet, but we serve a very good God. At our church they like to call out “God is good.” To which the rest of the people answer: “All the time!” Then someone says, “All the time!” And the rest answer: “God is good!” But it’s much more than just a Sunday morning church affirmation. Truth is, God continually gives us good gifts that show how much He loves us. We recognize the greatest gift of all is being saved through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. And if that was it that would be quite enough! But He gives us more and more and more, in addition to the assurance of heaven. As the Crowder song says: Good God Almighty!

Lord, help us realize just how good You are, in Jesus’ name.
