"Never Fail"

There is a time for everything,

The Good Book tells it true,

The trick to hear the Spirit bring,

Just what we’re s’posed to do.

The seasons come and go for sure,

We don’t always get it right,

Sometimes we’re called to just endure,

Keep walking in the light.

Even if it’s puzzling,

When things happen like they do,

We’re burdened by what’s troubling,

And the fairness of it, too.

But we walk by faith and not by sight,

Trusting He’s always at work,

Depending on His power and might,

When the devil tries to jerk,

Us all around with his deceit,

Distract us from the call,

But what God says we will repeat,

Proclaim to one and all,

He’s the Lord of every season,

Brings the grace to get us through,

And Jesus is the reason,

Each day He will renew,

The inner man is strengthened,

God’s character He builds,

Opportunities are lengthened,

If with all our hearts we yield.

Our past cannot define us,

We have learned but are set free,

God’s testing has refined us,

And we’re ready, don’t you see.

To do the Savior’s bidding,

No matter risk or sacrifice,

And it is only fitting,

That we serve and pay the price.

The seasons filled with mercy,

And God’s purpose will prevail,

Jesus makes us worthy,

And His grace will never fail.

“The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.” (Lamentations 3:22, NAS)

Others have disappointed us. We’ve even disappointed ourselves at times. This is especially hurtful when the person who let us down was someone we truly loved. But the good news is that God will never disappoint us. We can completely trust His love, and the mercies that are new every morning. These words were written by Jeremiah during a very difficult time in Israel’s history. Yet he had hope. Much later Paul wrote about his inner man being renewed everyday by the Spirit, and the grace that was sufficient for every need. Life is not always what we expect. But we can expect mercy from the Lord.

Lord, renew us today and everyday, in Jesus’ name.
