"No Doubt"
I stopped what I was feelin’,
‘Cause I was getting’ mad,
The situation growing tense,
And could go worse from bad.
The people whom I love were hurt,
I knew the reasons why,
I wanted to protect them,
Or at least give it a try.
But in the middle of it all,
I stopped to think and pray,
‘Cause in the end there wasn’t much,
That I could do or say.
I’m one who likes to fix things,
Take action, problems solve,
And if you’ve ever turned the wheel,
And done it with resolve,
You know that you can get things done,
You know just what it takes,
You also know you can go wrong,
As shown by big mistakes.
I learned again the lesson,
When God calls us to do,
Get on up and do it,
And don’t slow down, it’s true.
But if God doesn’t lead us,
Just wait and stay in prayer,
‘Cause we can do more harm than good,
If we intrude in there.
God loves our people more than us,
And He can bail them out,
I trust Him to protect them,
Of that I have no doubt.
“…because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” (Romans 8:14, NIV)
The sons of God are directed by what God says. Their manual of instruction is the Bible, which we believe is inspired by the Spirit. There we find God’s truth to give us wisdom to do what He desires. But without the personal leadership of the Holy Spirit, we will inevitably get it wrong. For example, the Bible calls us in many passages to help one another, but when does our help go too far? Only the Spirit can show us where our responsibilities start and stop. If we intervene when we are supposed to wait, we can actually hinder or delay what God is doing in a person’s life. Be led by the Spirit. God knows what, how, who and when we can help.
Lord, lead us by Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
