"Pray"

When friends get sick we pray for them,

Ask God to make them well,

But unless the Lord reveals it,

You can never tell,

If the healing comes in this world,

Or sometimes in the next,

Still we ask God for it,

It’s just what we expect.

But sometimes when the answer,

Is not what you envision,

You have to think about it,

And get the Lord’s revision.

We pray and we believe it,

But when it’s said and done,

We have to trust in Jesus,

And say Your Kingdom come.

Rule in this situation,

And do Your perfect will,

Just as it’s done in heaven,

No matter how we feel.

We laid my friend to rest today,

That’s why it’s on my mind,

I will always miss him,

So I have had to find,

Once again the peace that comes,

From surrender to His will,

My friend is there in heaven tonight,

Nothing but joy to feel.

So I have to let him go,

And praise God for His best,

Trust God with my questions,

And let Him give me rest.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”  (Philippians 4:6, NLT)

When we pray for anything we have to trust God with the results.  Sometimes we receive exactly the miracle we are asking for.  Sometimes God answers a different way, and we have to accept in faith God’s answer.  If we are  feeling disappointed we also must be willing to give over our emotions to God and trust Him.  When we do the Bible says we will receive His peace.  That’s good to remember.

Lord, help us to pray about everything and accept the answer You give, in Jesus’ name.
