Way"
Sometimes those country winding roads,
Don’t make directions clear,
It seems they zig and zag a lot,
To get from there to here.
And you can’t always recognize,
Why it was built this way,
Can’t really see how lays the land,
When traveling night or day.
Sometimes you try your GPS,
Only then to find,
That from the internet it’s hid,
It is not there online.
My Dad was into short cuts,
He said we’ll whip right ‘round,
Though Mama tried to tell him,
Our trips were lost and found.
That’s why I’m glad the Savior,
Makes clear He is the way,
The truth and, yes, even the life,
That’s what He had to say.
And you can argue with it,
But only at your risk,
I choose to believe it,
And let me tell you this,
The Lord has made it simple,
The way is plain to see,
Don’t over-complicate it,
Just trust in Him to be,
All that He has promised,
And I believe He will,
God’s way and truth and life He said,
The promise, clear and real.
“For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matthew 7:14, NAS)
This may sound pessimistic but Jesus is only stating the truth. Jesus claimed to be the way, the truth and the life. He said He was the only way to the Father. Narrow, indeed! But simple enough for even a child to understand. Part of faith is not only accepting Jesus as God’s ultimate solution. It’s also trusting God with unanswered questions. I may not understand everything but I do understand that Jesus is the way.
Lord, help us not to overthink or complicate what You have promised, in Jesus’ name.
