"Relief"

The tragic things that this life brings,

Can break our hearts in two,

The pain we feel is very real,

So hard to live it through.

But if we know that God will show,

Us grace to be all right,

The pain today won’t feel this way,

He’ll make the burden light.

It gives us hope as we cope,

With things we can’t control,

The mountain’s high, but still we try,

To let Him soothe the soul.

With tender peace and sweet release,

From all that drags us low,

He sets us free to always be,

Filled with the Spirit’s flow.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit…” (Psalm 34:18, NIV)

One does not have to look far to see that the world is filled with tragedy and trouble. Sometimes we almost feel numb about it, because the headlines are so disastrous. But then heartbreak visits us personally, and it is so painful we wonder if we will survive. If you’ve been there, you know what I mean. Illness, accidents, terrible disappointments and death are realities of this life that cannot be fully escaped. And yet, the Lord is with us…This is our hope, our comfort, our strength and our healing. There are some things we will never get over. But we will get through them because of God’s grace. He enabes the pain to ease, and the hearbreak to heal in such a way that we don’t feel the same awful intensity we once did. Praise the Lord.

Lord, heal our pain, in Jesus’ name.
