"Right"

What happened to the people,

Who still know right from wrong,

Who disregard the wind speed,

No matter if its strong.

‘Cause they don’t have their finger,

Way up in the wind,

To decide their action,

Or how they’ll treat a friend.

No, they believe that right is right,

If there is no one left,

To recognize an absolute,

Whose backbone is bereft.

And they still think that wrong is wrong,

If no one else agrees,

They are not into compromise,

Or finding wrong’s degrees.

They stand for God and country,

They love the land He gave,

And they are the foundation,

And why the Lord will save,

A country that’s gone crazy,

And lost the righteous way,

But some are still there standing,

And praying God will stay,

His hand that comes in judgment,

To bring His people back,

To teach them He’s the answer,

And help them get on track.

O Lord, we humbly ask You,

To please forgive our sin,

To have some mercy on us,

And bring us all back in.

“…I will hear from heaven and will forgiven their sins and will restore their land…” (2 Chronicales 7:14, NLT)

I hear it a lot, don’t you? Our nation needs revival. Our nation needs to get right with God. Our nation needs to return to its Judeo-Christian roots. Some have built entire organizations around this idea, and aligned themselves with political candidates and parties that they believe will accomplish these goals. We need to pray thoughtfully about such efforts. I am not saying they are all wrong. I am simply saying that when God promised Solomon to heal the land if His people turned to Him in prayer and repentance, it had nothing to do with politics. What was the promise all about? It was about God’s people seeking Him with all their hearts. it wasn’t even about the nation’s repentance. It was about the repentance of God’s people. The contemporary application would be for the Church to seek the Lord. If the Church repents, and prays and seeks the Lord, He will answer with general healing for the land. Does our land need healing? I would say yes. But the promise directly relates to what we as Christians are willing to do.

Lord, help us to seek You with all our hearts and turn from every sin, in Jesus’ name.
