"Runnin'"

Flyin’, runnin’, always gunnin’,

For one step ahead,

Workin’, strivin’, and deep divin’,

Our energy is fed,

By the winning we’re still grinnin’,

Though at times it’s sad,

Far too ready, always steady,

Even when it’s bad.

Guess I’m sayin’ never stayin’,

Still is what Dad taught,

I’m his son to get things done,

It was his truth I bought.

But in the end God must defend,

All we hope to keep,

To trust in Him when hope is thin,

Will help us when we sleep.

“Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” (Isaiah 40:31, NAS)

Life is busy but busy-ness does not mean we are living the abundant life God promises. There is something to be said for hard work and not having a spirit of entitlement. But we must also learn to wait on the Lord and depend upon His strength. Only then can we overcome weariness and burn-out. Know when it’s time to rest. Know when we’ve done enough. God will help us know.

Lord, teach us to depend upon Your strength, in Jesus’ name.
