"Sons of Light"

When you live and love the light,

You give your all with all your might,

Clothed with armor, bound to fight,

   The darkness all around.

You won’t compromise a bit,

The grace of God has made you fit,

To speak His truth in love, that’s it,

   And to His power bound.

The darkness threatens with its lies,

To steal from us the heavenly prize,

In Jesus’ name the devil flies,

   God gives us victory.

The weaponry is heaven-sent,

And all the time in prayer we spent,

Proves God’s word says what it meant,

   And that’s what wins, you see.

So wake up to sobriety,

And grace that gives us piety,

To impact our society,

   And never once look back.

For sons of light is who we are,

Different from this world by far,

His Holy Spirit sets the bar,

   There’s nothing that we lack.

“…for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of the night nor of darkness…” (1 Thessalonians 5:5, NAS)

The Scriptures tell us that God is light and there is no darkness in Him at all. We were once darkness, but now we are His sons and daughters, filled with light. We walk in the light together, and the light shines through us to light up a world of darkness. We wear what the Bible calls the armor of light. This armor protects us and enables us to battle against the spiritual forces of darkness. We do this in Jesus’ name, and where we go the light goes. The darkness can neither comprehend or extinguish the light.of God’s presence and power.

Lord, help us live as sons and daughters of light, in Jesus’ name.
