"Strength"

I know that you have been there,

When all your strength is gone,

Done everything that you could do,

And not that you were wrong,

But gave all of your energy,

And focus, time and try,

To do whate’er your goal was,

And it was do or die.

But somehow you just fell short,

And now you second-guess,

Whatever else you could have done,

To have the right success.

Paul said everything he did,

Was never his own strength,

But due to Christ who lived through him,

The depth and width and length.

So we just do the best we can,

To let the Lord live through,

Leave all results right in His hands,

With everything we do.

“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13, NIV)

When Paul said that he could do everything with the help of the Lord’s strength he was talking about depending on the power of the Holy Spirit. It was the Spirit’s energizing power that saw him through every challenge. He wrote these words from a prison cell in Rome, and the context of this statement is the issue of contentment. The promise was not about having success in every endeavor, but experiencing God’s peace, no matter what. God will keep us strong, too, if we learn to rely on Him.

Lord, help us rely on Your strength in every circumstance, in Jesus’ name.
