"Tears"
You wouldn’t think a cowboy,
Would ever shed a tear,
Or be so tenderhearted,
Or admit to any fear.
But cowboys are just people,
Common flesh and blood,
And though they’re tough and ornery,
You’d be surprised he could,
Have such strong emotions,
And show ‘em strongly, too,
He might not always do it,
But they are there, it’s true.
I’ve seen ‘em cry like little girls,
When some old pony’s hurt,
And holding hands with Grandma,
Tears streaming like a quirt.
I’ve watched ‘em stare at funerals,
Like a calf at some old gate,
And bow their heads in anguish,
When the loved ones have to wait.
And never think a cowboy,
Never has a scare,
I’ve seen ‘em fairly panic,
I know ‘cause I was there.
And for every cowboy,
The Good Lord promises to,
Comfort every hurt he has,
And drive out fear for you.
The real strength of a cowboy,
Is for everyone the same,
It all boils down to Jesus,
And calling on His name.
So when you see a cowboy,
Just say a little prayer,
You don’t know what he’s feeling,
It will show that you care.
“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others…” (2 Cor. 1:4, NLT)
God promises comfort to all our hurts and hassles. When we receive the comfort He gives, the best way we can show our gratitude is by passing that comfort along to others. A little of it can go a very long way. We do better when we do not dismiss the suffering of others. Sensitivity is needed. You never know what someone is going through. Sometimes they look okay but they aren’t. That’s why we should do our best to give compassion, no matter what. It comes around. It goes around. It comes around again.
Lord, help us to give to others the comfort You have given us, in Jesus’ name.
