"Travel"
The way the pilgrim travels,
Is an uphill way to go,
A path that can be rocky,
Takes energy, you know.
Along that climb we’re tempted,
To think it’s just too much,
And that is why our journey,
Needs the Master’s touch.
Jesus travels with us,
To give us what we need,
Not to change the pathway,
But help us to take heed,
To all that He is saying,
And the strength that comes from grace,
To remember that what matters,
Is to always seek His face.
And faith that is untested,
Might not be faith at all,
You don’t know till you’re challenged,
If you’ll stand or if you’ll fall.
So when you’re getting weary,
And wonder if your climb,
Is really worth the trouble,
That is just the time,
To listen to the Spirit,
And cast on Him your care,
The grace for every mountain,
Always will be there.
“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed…” (2 Corinthians 4:8, NLT)
Why aren’t we crushed by troubles? Are our troubles lighter because we are Christians? The answer is clearly and definitely no. In fact some of our troubles happen because we belong to the Lord and are trying to serve Him. The only reason we' are pressed but not crushed is because of God’s grace and our willingness to depend upon Him and not ourselves. Like fragile clay jars we contain the treasure of God’s power, which makes it clear that it’s all about Him. We can, in fact, do all things through Him who gives us strength. The life of Jesus flows through us.
Lord, help to depend upon your grace to get us through, in Jesus’ name.
