"Trust Him"

I don’t know why I doubted,

I know I never should,

When you ask the Lord Almighty,

And you know His gifts are good.

Guess it’s just human nature,

To carry with us doubt,

Though I hate to admit it,

I’d be better off without.

But sometimes it dogs me,

When I’m runnin’ short of strength,

And I’m down to my rope’s end,

And don’t have much more length.

It’s either fear or trust Him,

And, yes, we have a choice,

Not to be double-minded,

But with steadfast heart and voice,

We say the Lord is faithful,

‘Cause we’ve known Him to be,

And we surrender to Him,

With our love and loyalty.

We choose to trust Him fiercely,

And say no to our doubt,

And then we wait for Jesus,

It’s what faith is all about.

And while we are waiting,

We do what He says do,

Because our faith is useless,

Unless it works, it’s true.

So learn this righteous lesson,

Faith is what we need,

To be a mountain-mover,

The size of mustard seed.

Listen for the Spirit,

And pray according to His will,

Trust in God our Savior,

Ask Him our doubt to kill.

“But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone…” (James 1:6, NLT)

This verse is specifically talking about asking for God’s wisdom, but I believe it applies to everything. When we pray, we should put our trust in God alone. If we don’t, we will be constantly second-guessing and doubt will overwhelm our faith. The Lord promises peace to those who put their trust in HIm, and peace flies when we don’t. Sometimes we have to be very intentional when it comes to trusting, and even speak aloud the lordship of Jesus over the circumstances. The strongest faith comes as a result of hearing the Lord speak. When you hear from the Spirit exactly what the Lord wants, and pray accordingly, great things happen!

Lord, strengthen our faith and kill our doubt, in Jesus’ name.
