"Turn to Jesus"
When the mountain climb’s too steep,
And the pain you feel’s too deep,
And the nightmares say no sleep,
Turn to Jesus, turn to Jesus.
When the hurt you can’t forgive,
And your heart leaks like a sieve,
And you think you might not live,
Turn to Jesus, turn to Jesus.
When friends you count on turn away,
And you’ve lost the words to say,
And you don’t think you can stay,
Turn to Jesus, turn to Jesus.
When you’ve finally found the end,
And you can’t begin again,
And you’re burdened by your sin,
Turn to Jesus, turn to Jesus.
Turn to Jesus, He’ll accept you,
Turn to Jesus, Won’t reject you,
Turn to Jesus, He expects you,
Turn to Jesus, He’ll connect you,
Turn to Jesus, He’ll affect you,
Turn to Jesus, He’ll unwreck you.
Turn to Jesus, turn to Jesus…
“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens…” (Mt. 11:28, NLT)
All is a big word, which makes this a big invite from Jesus. All does not mean some. All means all. Hmmm… Think about that. All who are weary and carry heavy burdens. All? Yes, all. That’s broad, because getting exhausted with life and overwhelmed with its weight is the experience of most of us (if not all). We would do well to accept Jesus’ invitation to come to Him for help. I know we are called by Jesus to repent of our sins, change our ways, and obey the Lord. I know we need to get our act together morally and spiritually. But it’s nice to put all that on hold for a minute and remember that this invitation is about relief. Pure, sweet, simple relief. It’s like Jesus is saying I know you’re screwed up but let’s do something about that big burden you’re carrying first. Once you feel better, we’ll talk about the needed changes. Maybe you disagree. But I really believe Jesus is like that because that’s exactly the way He has treated me.
Lord, help us come to You with all our weariness and heavy burdens, in Jesus’ name.
