"Weather"

They don’t know how to do it yet,

Perhaps they never will,

And that’s control the weather,

The skies with sunshine fill.

When it gets hot in Texas,

It’s to the heat adjust,

And when there blows a norther,

We do the same, we must.

When it gets dry we pray for rain,

And if it rains too much,

We pray the Good Lord shuts it off,

And ask His help and such.

We can’t change a snowstorm,

Or a hurricane gulf threat,

The weather channel warns us,

But we’ve never stopped one yet.

Rain or shine or hot or cold,

We put it in God’s hands,

Trust Him with the weather,

And surrender to His plans.

And in the end what we control,

Is very small, you see,

But we know the Lord of everything,

Now and eternally.

“And He said to them, ‘Where is your faith?’ They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, ‘Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?’” Luke 8:25, NAS)

When we consider the weather, we see how little control we really have over our lives. And when weather threatens, everything is affected. Those who live close to the land are more aware of the weather than others because everything depends on moisture to live and grow. Jesus showed His disciples on more than one occasion that He was in command over the weather. He still is, and everything else. Jesus is Lord. We aren’t.

Lord, teach us to trust You, in Jesus’ name.
