"Wish"

Wishing, wishing on a star,

May lift up all your hopes,

But I’m not sure, if that’s a cure,

When you’re against the ropes.

Wishing for a better life,

And looking for relief,

Sometimes a dream, can really seem,

Too far for our belief.

And if you stay down long enough,

You might get so confused,

That it seems real and you feel,

That down is up, abused.

So look, here is your answer,

There is a God who knows,

Just what you need, His Word will lead,

‘Cause you’re the one He chose.

Delight yourself in Him, He says,

And He will gladly give,

Your heart’s desires, and what transpires,

Will bless the life you live.

The God who knows you best, you see,

Gives love without delay,

You may draw near, He’s always here,

With grace you can’t repay.

And all the sinful ways you’ve failed,

He’ll forgive and then forget,

Grace to change, life rearrange,

And no end to it yet.

So come and give your dreams to Him,

And trust Him to come through,

There’s so much more, He has in store,

He knows what’s best for you.

“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires…” (Psalm 37:4, NLT)

When we surrender our lives to Jesus, it means we are willing to give Him total control over everything we have and do. He becomes the Lord of our thoughts, desires, and dreams. We seek first the Kingdom of God as our highest priority. But those who make this commitment and live this way, find something out about this God we serve. They discover that He is a Father who wants to give His children wonderful gifts. As our desires are transformed in accordance with His will, He generously give us our heart’s desires. If it hasn’t happened yet, it will.

Lord, help us always to delight in You, in Jesus’ name.
